JOLA is an early, high-quality table potato variety from Norika breeding, characterized by high yield, high tuber set, and a high percentage of marketable tubers. The tubers are round-oval, yellow to dark-yellow flesh with excellent internal quality, smooth yellow skin and very shallow to shallow eyes. An attractive tuber type and uniform shape give the harvest a very good marketable appearance. Jola is suitable for growing in all soil types, and conditioning and pre-sprouting the seed potatoes before planting produces even and fast sprouts. Chemical seed treatment against rhizoctonia is recommended before planting. The variety is characterized by a medium dormancy period, so the tubers store well. High resistance to the Y virus (PVY) and medium resistance to leaf roll virus ensure healthy seed material and a stable yield throughout the season, while resistance to nematodes (Ro 1, Ro 4) reduces phytosanitary risk when growing this variety on various farms. Due to low susceptibility to rhizoctonia and tuber rot and very low flesh blackening, Jola is excellently suited for direct consumption and sale on the fresh potato market, where flawless tuber quality and a long shelf life are important. Country of origin: Germany.
