ARTHUS is a medium-early, high-quality potato variety from Norika breeding, intended for french fry production. The tubers are elongated-oval, cream-colored flesh, with a netted, yellowish skin and shallow eyes. It features excellent frying properties, low reducing sugar content, and inactivity for after-cooking blackening, so the tubers retain an attractive appearance even after longer storage. The variety is suitable for growing in all soil types. Before planting, seed tubers should be conditioned and prepared for sprouting, and chemical seed treatment is recommended for protection against rhizoctonia. Arthus is characterized by even emergence, rapid foliage development, and a very good dormancy period, allowing tubers to be stored for a long time without losing quality. Thanks to the stable combination of low sugar content and resistance to blackening, Arthus is equally suitable for both french fry production and dried potato product processing – giving growers and processors flexibility to choose the most suitable marketing direction depending on harvest quality. Very high resistance to the Y virus (PVY) together with resistance to nematodes (Ro 1, Ro 4, Pa 2) and potato wart disease (pathotype 1 D1) reduces phytosanitary risk even on intensively farmed potato operations. Country of origin: Germany.
